The starting of this humble but faithful Orthodox Christian Mission using only the English language, as the main tool to pray to the Almighty, which is the language of this country, is of no small significance. This tool will allow us to spread the Good News of salvation to everyone. We are humbly following what happened on Pentecost when the disciples started talking in many languages to spread the word of the Lord's resurrection and salvation to all nations in their own language.

We are conscious of Christ's command to preach to all nations, and our church serves Orthodox Christians as well as enquirers regardless of ethnic origin.

Our Mission comprises Australian faithful with backgrounds from Europe, the Middle East, South-East Asia, Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa as well as South Africa, the Balkans, Scandinavia, the Baltic States, the United Kingdom and North America.

With all trust in God, we hope this Mission will be the salt and the light as the Lord said according to Matthew 5: 13 - 16.

When establishing our Mission, we could not find a better description than that from the Early Church as written in Acts 2: 42 - 45 and Acts 4: 32 - 35.

We are one, and the main reason for our existence is to pray, break bread, and bear witness to the Lord Jesus, as we strive to, “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6: 33)"

Jesus advises us to choose Him above all.

Holy Ascension Orthodox Mission is located in Williamstown, in the Western Metropolitan Melbourne area. Founded in 2009, we are a quickly growing Mission under the canonical protection of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the R.ussian Orthodox Church Outside of R.ussia. Our services are family-friendly and are celebrated entirely in English.  We encourage you to visit and to discover for yourself the enduring appeal of the Orthodox Christian Faith.  "Come and see." (John 1: 46)

Each Sunday the Divine Liturgy is served at 9AM which is the focal point of our community’s spiritual life followed by refreshments and potluck fellowship around 11AM to which all are welcome.

God bless.
